Start you Journey, Enjoy the Ride

We all have goals, but so many of us are unsure on where or even how to start reaching them. I want to take a few minutes to give you some tips on how to start!

1) Make a commitment to yourself. This is probably the most important aspect of starting your journey. You need to make a commitment to make the changes needed to reach your goals and build a healthy lifestyle, and a better version of yourself.

Make appointments through the week and honor them as you would going to the doctor, or any other appointment you would make. Make yourself and your health a priority!

Eliminate excuses that may deter you from focusing on your commitment. Do not let the excuses of , i have no time, no energy, etc, run you.

2) Start Small. So many go into the gym on a program they found from some athlete they saw on social media, television, etc and try to go to hard to fast. Then 2 days into the routine, they are so sore, they don't make it to the gym the rest of the week, if we even go back at all for a while.

Use basic movements such as squats, deadlifts, push ups, pull ups, dips, shoulder presses, and rows to start. Don't over work yourself. Typically a good rule of thumb is 3 or 4 sets of 8-12 reps at a good weight for you, will suffice until you build up your tolerance, learn the ropes, and build your strength. Increase over time to keep results coming.

3) Expect setbacks. Life will happen, you may miss a day, or have to do a short workout because of work, or other life responsibility. Plan those days, if you know you have to work late or have another engagement that day, wake up a few minutes earlier and get in a 20 minute workout. However, if you miss one day, it is not the end of the world, it will not hinder your results. Get back at it the next day and continue on. Just don't fall into a routine of missing.

4) Finally. If you are still unsure, or just cannot seem to find your groove, or just have no, or limited, knowledge of how to safely workout and progress forward. Talk to a Personal Trainer!

Never give up, stay consistent! So start your journey and enjoy the ride.
